Not every resident will agree with or be satisfied with their elected representative. With one alderman per ward, residents would have a clear line of responsibility: one person whose responsiveness, positions and voting record they can follow and evaluate.
Residents would also still be able to contact other aldermen. Aldermen represent individual wards, but the decisions they make govern the city as a whole.
